ATP's Mission Statement

We study fundamental properties of algorithms, its computational virtues, limitations, and challenges, and its efficacy in completing a clinical task in question. We strive to develop a compact and explainable computational algorithm (elegance) which robustly and accurately solves a clinical problem (effective). Our research fosters collaboration between engineering, mathematics, and medicine and provides multidisciplinary training and development of future scientists.

Focus Areas

  • Theoretical Topics: machine learning, deep learning, optimization algorithms, applied statistics, information theory, topological data analysis, signal and image processing, robust control theory.
  • Applied Topics: medical image processing and analysis pipelines, brain tumor characterization, cardiac image analysis, abdominal imaging, dental image analysis, oncological image analysis, image reconstruction (and/or restoration), pharmacokinetic analysis, task-based reconstruction and analysis, direct parametric imaging, motion estimation and correction, image segmentation and registration.
  • Imaging Modalities: PET/CT, SPECT/CT, PET/MR, Low-dose CT, CBCT, and multiparametric MRI.
