I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science at the Lahore University of Management Sciences. I run the Interactive Media Lab at LUMS and am the Director of the National AI Hub for MNCH and the Saida Waheed Gender Center housed at LUMS. I am also the Founder of Awaaz-e-Sehat , a speech based AI assistant for Maternal Health Workers.

I have a PhD in Computer Science from the Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany and am a Fulbright scholar with a Masters from Cornell University, NY.

My research interests are in human-computer interaction (HCI), and Human Computer Interaction for Development. I am interested in developing technologies that consider the social and technical constraints of diverse populations, with a specific focus on gender. My work seeks to create inclusive solutions that respond to the unique challenges and aspirations of these communities. My recent work spans multiple domains, including maternal and mental health, financial inclusion, digital literacy, and privacy. I am particularly interested in designing and developing safe, secure and trustworthy AI systems for sustainable development.
