MESSAGE FROM
VICE-CHANCELLOR
Lahore University of
Management Sciences is highly delighted to organize the "LUMS 2nd
International Conference on Mathematics and its Applications in
Information Technology in March, 2008".
The aim of this Conference is to create a forum amongst all
Mathematicians where critical and constructive discussion can occur in
order to improve the quality of research in all fields of Mathematics.
The recognition of the importance of Mathematics in today’s world has
rapidly increased. For many professions, such as engineering, physics,
economics, computing, information technology, accountancy an effective
grasp of the discipline of mathematics is an absolute must.
Therefore, the chief objective of this conference is to promote research
in mathematics and find ways to integrate future collaboration among
world leaders in mathematics from all corners of the world. I also hope
that, this conference will contribute towards enhancing Mathematics
related research at LUMS and help towards our PhD students in
Mathematics and related disciplines.
I compliment the Department of Mathematics at LUMS and the National
Organizing Committee of the conference.
