LUMS 1st International Conference on Mathematics and its Applications in Information Technology, held in November 2005, proved to be a great success. We look forward to welcome the experts from Pakistan and abroad to the LUMS 2nd International Conference in Mathematics (March 2008) which will cover various aspects of latest research in Pure and Applied Mathematics.

Conference provide opportunities for interaction among experts in their areas of interest and promote linkages for collaborative  research. As a premier institution of higher education in Pakistan, LUMS is keen to promote latest research in various fields.

The deliberations of the 2nd International Conference on Mathematics will pave the way for greater research activities in the field of Mathematics and its Applications in industrial sector in the country. In particular, we would welcome new ideas for promotion of interest in Mathematics among youth.

Needless to say that the holding of an International Conference is a challenging task. I am confident that our Department of Mathematics would successfully meet this challenge to the entire satisfaction of the experts in Mathematics who will be attending this Conference.

Hopefully, the delegates of this Conference will enjoy the traditional hospitality of the historic city of Lahore in addition to their fruitful academic deliberations.
